Lots of people believe they are prepared because they own a gun, "shoot pretty well", or "been hunting my whole life". That's shooting and shooting without time constraints at that.  Fighting with a handgun looks nothing like what you have been previously taught.  But realistically, they don't know the basics for self-defense or handgun fighting.  This course educates the participant on a positive foundation to build upon:

Course topics will include:

• Mindset and carry principles

• The four (4) firearm safety rules

• Medical briefing (for live fire range portion)

• Gear selection, personal set-up

• Proper stance, grip and trigger manipulation

• Sight alignment

• Sight Picture

• Trigger Control

• Breath control

• Technical marksmanship and developing it under stress

• Recoil management

• Ready positions

• Drawing from a holster & drawing from concealment

• Loading and unloading protocols

• One-handed shooting (strong side and weak side)

• Reducing malfunctions

• Moving and using cover and/or concealment (and the difference between)

• Next steps in continued training and education

Course Requirements

• A functional and practical gun; ideally your carry firearm (Rental firearms and equipment is available with advance notice)

• Three (3) magazines for your handgun; ideally high capacity (14+ rnds)
  The more magazines or higher capacity magazines, the easier your day will be

• At least three-hundred fifty (350) of target or practice ammunition

• A sturdy, strong side holster (prefer a Kydex holster) along with a support side magazine pouch or caddy
  With advance notice, Kydex holsters and magazine caddy's are available for rent or purchase

• Hearing and eye protection ("Eyes and Ears")
