The shotgun is a very versatile firearm, and many people choose this as their home-defense weapon. However, many don't know how to properly use the firearm, or the techniques and differences which make it such a powerful weapon.

HOME DEFENSE: Intro to Shotgun

This is PART ONE of an optional 2-day course. You may choose to do one class for $132.50 (includes tax) or both days for $217.30 (tax included). Please see link for HOME DEFENSE: CQB.

This class is specifically designed to acclimate you with the functions and capabilities of the shotgun platform.

During the class, we will discuss weapon nomenclature and the types of shotguns and how they operate.

Additionally, you will learn the basics for shooting the shotgun with accuracy and learning the performance of the various shotgun shells. This class will give you the fundamentals for more advanced shotgun classes including room clearing and using the shotgun for self-defense in the home (CQB).

Class Description

- Weapon Nomenclature

- Types of Shotguns and Operations

- Chokes, understanding patterning, and basic ballistics

- Ammo selection discussion and performance

- Practical/defensive loading/reloading

- Cover loads

- Instinctive shooting

- Loading drills

- Shoulder drills/hip shooting.

- Intro to room clearing/ weapon handling

Equipment Required:

• Shotgun /pump or semi-auto in desired caliber

• Some type of way to carry ammo preferably on gun

• Side arm in holster (optional)

• 120 - 160 rnd(s) of bird shot or buck shot

• Thirty (30) rnd(s) of slugs

• Two-hundred (200) rnd(s) of sidearm ammunition

• Sturdy belt and strong side holster (for sidearm)

• Sling (we will assist you with firearm set-up)

• Eye and Ear protection

• Proper range gear and attire

• Lunch, snacks, drinks (with a lid or screw-on cap)

Preregistration is preferred; $132.50 per person (tax included). You may place a $25.00 non-refundable deposit to reserve your space (remaining balance due upon check-in day of course). Registration on the day of the course is $148.40 (includes tax). You can also register for both days’ classes for $217.30 (includes tax). Registration deadline for this course is Wednesday, April 17, 2019. *Due to the nature of the course and instruction, we do need a minimum of five (5) students to proceed with the course; if the minimum participation level isn't met, the class may be canceled or rescheduled.

Participants should arrive no later than 7:45 AM to complete necessary paperwork.
