CCW Class & Basic Pistol Training

This course was designed for people looking to obtain their WV, OH or KY Concealed Carry Permit/License, or for current CCW holders looking for a dedicated CCW training course. In this course, we discuss the mindset, preparation and guidelines for obtaining your Concealed Carry License. This is an all-inclusive, thorough course in which no experience is required. We teach participants firearm nomenclature for both a revolver and semi-automatic, firearm safety, the fundamentals of shooting both styles of pistols, concealed handgun selection and a variety of carry methods and correlating draw techniques for each method. Additionally, we will cover the laws and regulations concerning concealed carry and steps upon completion of the course to apply for your CPL. After classroom instruction and dry-fire practice, we move to the range for live fire practice and qualification.

Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate which may be presented with their application at their local Sheriff’s office for a CCW Permit which additionally will permit them to carry in all reciprocal States to their respective jurisdiction.

Additionally, this course discusses the law and guidelines regarding owning and carrying a pistol for self-protection, and the recommended steps in dealing with the aftermath of a self-defense shooting.

THIS COURSE IS LIMITED TO EIGHTEEN (18) PARTICIPANTS; EARLY REGISTRATION IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Edwards Training Center will provide the handgun/s and ammunition for this course. However, with advance notice and permission, participants may bring their own firearm and ammunition (although not required).

Participant Requirements:

~ Must have a valid, state issued Photo ID

~ Must be able to legally possess and/or purchase a firearm

~ Must be at least 18 years of age (WV Provisional CCW is 18 – 21 years of age)

~ This course is designed for participants of all skill or experience levels; no previous experience necessary

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid State or Government issued photo ID

• Eye & Ear protection (can be supplied if necessary)

• Your CCW Application (i.e., WV Concealed Permit Application, OH Concealed Permit Application)

• Pen & notebook or pad

• Proper range gear (i.e., no sandals or open-toed shoes, low cut blouses or t-shirts)

• Lunch, snacks and a beverage with a cap (screw on lid)

Pre-registration is preferred; class is $75.00/pp ($79.50 with tax). Participants should arrive by 10:45 AM to complete sign-in and any necessary paperwork; class will begin promptly at 11:00 AM. You may register on-line at www.edwardstrainingcenter.com or contact us at: (304) 390-6013.

This course is open to anyone eighteen (18) years of age or older from WV, KY or OH (participants aged 18 – 20 will be taking this course for a provisionary permit valid in the State of West Virginia).

Even though WV is now considered a Constitutional Carry state, you are still required to possess a valid Concealed Carry Permit if you wish to carry your firearm outside the State borders.
